Examples from a connected classroom


I am an example of a "connected-ready" teacher. I teach teachers about connected classrooms by modelling an approach. While my classes are mostly face-to-face, I surround my students with a course environment delivered through the web. This is the site of my current class, one-third of the way through.

Collaborative workspaces refers to a location on the web where a group of people can meet, communicate and share resources. In Nova Scotia we are very fortunate to have a space designed specifically for schools. While it has been a free service, it is currently undergoing a transition to a paid service. My LearningPlace.

Online resources become valuable when they provide access to information or situations that could not easily be provided through other means. For example:

How can teachers find good quality resources, those that other educators have vetted and found useful? The Nova Scotia Learning Interchange is a collaborative effort of Mount Saint Vincent University, the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Apple Computer. It is a "teachers talking to teachers" resource base.
