Advantages from
teacher's perspective:
- Re: putting course
materials online
- Forced organization
- must carefully plan the course locations.
- Course materials
are always accessible if connected to the web
- Students
have access even when not in class - before for preparation, after
for follow-up, access if absent, access after the course is finished.
- Communication
with peers/colleagues without restrictions of time (synchronous
vs asynchronous) or distance
- Re: Using online
resources
- Highlights
the advantages of multimedia - textual, visual, abstract, interactive,
social
- Access to
timely information - e.g. Dodge article in current issue of L<
- No duplication,
hole-punching, and distribution in class.
- There's good
stuff out there.
- Can't teach
in the traditional way!!!
Disadvantages
from the teachers perspective:
- Good materials
take time to create.
- Got to plan and
construct well ahead to get things up on time.
- If access is
down - need a backup plan, like paper-based or local site within the
LAN
- Students with
no or poor access.
- Not enough access
during class.
- Tech glitches
can distract from teaching/learning.
- Can't teach
in the traditional way!!!
